White Plains

Ethan and I arrived in White Plains on Tuesday. Door to door from Banbury the trip was about 17 hours including hanging around airports with delays and a slight detour on the drive from newark as we misunderstood the satnav and took a detour in new jersey rush hour traffic! The trip was much better than it could have been thanks to Nana Price's prayers which brought us a friendly welshman and his wife as our neighbour on the plane. They were more than happy to play with ethan and collect my luggage for me and deliver me into the hands of my husband.

The time difference may be a paltry 5 hours but it has taken quite some adjusting. Ian took almost a whole week to feel normal again. Ethan and I are still waking up at 2.30am and then intermittently for the rest of the night until about 6. Anyway we are getting there! The apartment is very comfortable. We have 2 bedrooms and a lounge - with that came 3 TVs. Two of them have been put away in a wardrobe. The 67 channels don't offer much in the way of entertainment.

There is not much to white plains other than shopping. Most of the kids programmes that i have heard about involve signing up for a whole term so i don't know if we'll go for any of that. However today i did meet up with two other "moms" who are staying the apartments. One of them Ally, has twins who are 13 mths old. She has been here for about 9 mths but is moving into a new house next month. Ethan and I spent the afternoon with them today. I'm looking forward to getting to know her and her husband Ryan - the added bonus is that they are both Christians! There are at least two other families of young kids here so i think we should be able to keep ourselves amused pretty well and make some good friends.
