Last day in the UK

Well we have had another lovely week in Banbury. The sun has shone for most of the week. We even had to get some of the summer wardrobe out. These photos are from a lovely walk we had on Saturday from Marion and Eddie's house through the fields to Bodicote and back.

The weather in New York has been atrocious the last couple of days with lots of flooding and high winds. Ian was out in the car yesterday but managed to get home before the worst of it. It should have cleared sufficiently by tomorrow to avoid any delays for our flight. I have almost twice as much luggage as I came with due to generous gifts from family and friends and rather too much shopping on my part. Luckily Continental Airlines have more than twice as much baggage allowance as we had from NZ.

We almost had a minor disaster tonight. We decided to give Ethan's favourite soft toy Roo a wash. Ethan always takes him to bed with him and I don't think he has ever had to sleep without him. He had a bit of a spin in the dryer to dry him off for bed and got stuck in there! The clasp on the door broke! Eddie had the top of the machine off but no joy in fixing it so we had to send for Ray the washing machine man. Luckily he sorted it out and Ethan went to bed with Roo under his arm oblivious to all the drama.




Against the background of all this trivia I've just been watching the news unfolding about the Virginia Tech shooting. The whole thing is so shocking and sad. According to Channel 4 news it is the 19th school shooting in 10 years. And yet the gun lobby continues to have huge support?
