A Long Weekend

Ian took the day off on Friday. What a difference it makes to the weekend to have that extra day! We made the most of it. We all went to the pool on Friday but I got to go swimming and Ian took Ethan in for his lesson. After a soak in the family spa we headed to the local winery - Artisan for some wine tasting then across the way to the Packing Shed for lunch. Ethan had his first bought lunch out of garlic bread and fruit with of course a fluffy.

Then we headed up north while Ethan napped in the car to Orewa. We had stopped here on honeymoon 3 1/2 years ago and loved the beach there. It is now much more developped and has lost some of its charm but the beach is still beautiful. Lots of people commute into the city from their so prices for property would be way beyond us.

We had a lovely walk on the beach. For the first time Ethan was really excited by the sea and soaked his clothes by running into it - with me holding his hands of course. He's getting pretty good on his feet.

On the way home we stopped off with Ian's old school friend in Greenhithe. Ethan had loads of fun playing with their dog and their sons many exciting toys. He had some tea here then we headed home in time to babysit for our neighbours.

Yesterday, Saturday, was a lovely sunny day and we spent most of it relaxing on the deck with books. Wonderful!
