It is now over a month since we arrived in New Zealand. Time has passed very quickly but it feels like we have achieved a lot in just a few weeks.
The job hunt continues. Prayers for Ian would be appreciated for an interview on Tuesday. It would be for a very good job but we will have to prayerfully consider the accompanying demands on family life. We have had two months now looking after Ethan together and it has been a very valuable time for us all. Our little pot of money is depleting however so we will have to do something about work soon. There are still quite a few lines in the water so i am sure that something will come up soon. I am trying to have faith in God's provision on top of my faith in Ian's ability. He has another interview on Monday for a job in Wellington. That isn't such an exciting job but if that is where God wants us then so be it! (not sure Dizz will ever figure me if we took that one!)
We discovered that our landlords are Christians! They pop around occasionally as they are trying to sell the house. We had a lovely chat with them the other night. There have been lots of Christian families living in the house. It makes me feel even more that this was one of the many things that God prepared in advance for us. The rental is supposed to be until the end of June but the prospective buyers have asked for an extension so we may consider staying for another couple of months. Saying that though, I am looking forward to enjoying some of the Bundy luxury while we house sit for them in July when they make a trip back to the UK.
Church at St Pauls has been great. Very English, but great nonetheless. In a way I didn't really want to just follow in the footsteps of the friends who have gone before us, but it's been a great place to start. Once we have decided on our neighbourhood I think I will be keen to look into the local church there as well as trying out the Auckland Vineyards (the churches and the wineries).
Las night we went to a fundraiser for a local primary school. It was an auction. Loads of stuff had been donated including a vasectomy (ladies bids only), a His and Hers Pleasure Bag with lots of curious looking goodies inside, a mole map and then other stuff like a bed, a kayak, kids toys and lots of books. I think they made way more than the $10,000 they needed for their new swimming pool.
Ethan continues to thrive. He has enjoyed a lunch of leek, parsnip and potato mush (homemade of course - it's not as if i have much else to do) followed by mashed banana. On the menu for this evening is sweet potato and carrot. He eats better than we do some nights.
Must away to a wet afternoon in Auckland - we may be going shopping for a laptop so our communications can be a bit more frequent.
