We have had some friends from Australia staying with us over the last few days. They have been on an amzaing tour of the British Isles. I think they have managed to see more of Ireland than i have ever seen and lots of England in the last couple of weeks. We took them down to Cornwall for a couple of days and stayed in Fowey. Lovely little seaside town worth a visit. We stayed in a B&B run by a long-haired guy who served breakfast with a green parrot on his shoulder. It was a pretty friendly town too.
We heard lots about life in Oz. Bill and Trish live in Adelaide. Bill is a Pastor of a Baptist Church there. Ian knew him when he lived there a few years ago. We would love to go out and visit and hope to do so for a long or short stint next year.
We had dinner in a lovely restaurant called "Food for Thought". A South African guy served us. He must have been about 20. He has been working here for a season but can't wait to go back as he doesn't like the culture here. Unfortunately he seems to have met the Brits who consider a good night out to be getting as drunk as possible and falling over.
It was a bit of a contrast seeing some wonderful English sights (we did the Eden Project) - beautiful views, friendly people and enjoying showing our guests round Bristol and our home, but on the other hand being reminded of the down-side to English culture the "loutishness".
