While Ian has been away we have been throwing ourselves into all sorts of activities so that we (mostly me) don't get too bored. We have been missing him terribly and Ethan has been asking more and more about when he is coming back and telling me what he is going to do with him when he gets back. Last night Ethan invented a little game ot play with me. This was a first. I had to sit behind him on the beanbag and he sat between my outstretched legs which he told me were the doors to his big airplane. I had to bring my feet together to close the doors to the plane. We then had to put on our seatbelts "click" and fly off to go and visit Daddy. After we had been to see Daddy a few times we had to go and visit Nana and Gamps as well.

Even though Ian's being away is a pain, we have had lots of fun doing some things that we wouldn't normally do - like kids' tea at someone else's house and going to the zoo for half an hour in the late afternoon, which is what we did today.

This visit to the zoo we went to some of the ensclosures that we don't normally see. The orangutans were amazing. A bit of a crowd had formed at one of the windows and one of the cheeky little chappies came down to look at us all and waved! At least he gestured with his outstretched hand. We all waved goodbye to him later and he waved again. Very cool. Ethan loved it. A lady in the crowd lingered a bit longer and kept trying to get him to wave again and he just kept staring at her. Then as I was walking away I heard her gasping and laughing and saying that he had just given her the finger!

We had nothing planned for this morning other than vacuuming and cleaning but we ended up having a great time at the park after a trip to the library. We discovered that a fair number of the mums from playgroup had sought refuge at the park too. It's the start of the second week of school holidays so everyone is at a bit of a loose end.

Tomorrow we are off to Sienna's house for morning tea.
