Ian learned last week that his boss at Rank, the first job he had when we got here, died from throat cancer. He contracted the illness while Ian was working for him but had been in remission for some months. The disease returned a couple of weeks ago and his condition deteriorated very quickly. Ian flew to Melbourne today for the funeral along with some of his former colleagues.
The upside of his trip is that he gets to spend a couple of nights with some friends from England - Will and Vics have been working there for the past year.
On Saturday Ian got an e-mail from work asking him to go to Thailand for 3 weeks! He will probably be going straight from Melbourne so we don't expect to see him until the beginning of May. We will have to keep ourselves very busy to conserve my sanity.
Our first day did not get off to a great start. Immy had a very hungry night and was up 3 times. Ian then got up at 515am to go the airport and Ethan was up half an hour later. After a very long early morning we headed off for our trip to Chipmunks - an indoor playground - where we were due to meet Sienna. We got there to discover that it was shut on Mondays. Ethan was devastated. Luckily we were able to get Sienna to come to our house instead. It is a wet wintry day, best spent watching DVDs and baking which is exactly what we have been doing.
