Extreme Makeover Vineyard Edition

This weekend our church got together to do some serious work at one of our number's house. She is a single mum who for a number of reasons had been unable to get any work done to her house for many years. There was a distinct possibility that it would not be water-tight this winter. So over Saturday and Sunday we all got together and prepared and painted the entire house, demolished a leanto and fixed the weatherboards behind it; built and shelved a shed; built and painted a fence and gate at the front of the property; cut down and removed shrubs and weeds; refitted and painted the wooden window frames. The professional tradesmen among us kept everyone in line and ensured that a professional job was done. Those of us with childcare duties did our best to keep the workers fed and watered. The place really is unrecognisable. It was a real joy to see it coming together and to see everyone giving up their time to get it done. It was an amazing weekend.
