Spring is coming - honest

We have had a couple of weeks of fairly turbulent weather here. Lots of heavy rain showers and strong winds. Today however we have a glorious clear blue sky and lots of sun. It's still quite windy though with a bit of a chill in the air. This weekend is a public holiday - Monday is Labour Day. After that it is meant to be the countdown to summer when you can do things like plant your veggies and invest in lots of sun cream. We are hoping to get out veggie patch finished this weekend so that I can start planting. I think it's going to be more of a herb garden really. I don't want to try any exotic vegetables (by exotic i mean carrots and capsicums) just yet so i'll stick to lots of herbs and salads and maybe strawberries. Ian has ripped up the old ugly garden path that ran right through the centre of the lawn so we need to returf that too.

We have had a very busy and enjoyable week. Last Friday I had a lingerie party and Ian had a boys night in the shed. We had frequent nuisance phone calls from them and they insisted on coming in with their wives for the fittings but i think that (and the whiskey) boosted sales.

On Wednesday night Ian and I went to the first evening of The Marriage Course - the one that came out of HTB in London, the same church that started the Alpha course. They serve you dinner before you watch a DVD then discuss and complete questionnaires designed to assess the health of your marriage. It was all great fun. We were encouraged to talk about some of the best fun times we have had together in the past. We realised that before Ethan some of our best times together were when we were doing physical stuff - ski-ing, swimming, running, touch rugby, tennis all the things that are a little more tricky with a toddler. We hope to get back into more of that sort of thing once this baby comes along. Here kayaking is very popular and i like the idea of climbing (indoor climbing walls to start with). The best thing about the course is that the couple who are running it offered their daughter as a babysitter. They live just around the corner so that could be good for the future. We have 7 more weeks of the course so i'll keep you posted.
