monkey see, monkey do

Today we went en famille to see the midwife for a routine check-up. All seems to be well with active little baby who has good heartbeat. Ethan listened with us to the heartbeat and when the midwife told him that it was a baby he repeated "baby" after her, which is the first time he has used that word. He was still looking for the baby on the bed after I had got up though, so i guess he hasn't quite got the fact that it is in mummy's tummy yet! He cracked me up when we were leaving. He had done his"wye wye" and waving at the midwife as we stood at the door but Ian stepped forward to shake her hand to say goodbye and Ethan did exactly the same - thrust his little hand out and walked over to her and shook her hand! so cute!

Ian and I have been out to see the Bourne Ultimatum tonight. Great film and a pleasant meal beforehand, all in the company of Jo and Phil. We had a young teenage babysitter looking after Ethan. It was the first time we had a relative stranger put him to bed so I had given her a long list of instructions and tips on how to cope with his tears when we left and his crying and whinging and apparently he didn't complain one bit but just charmed her for an hour with his books and toys before toddling off to bed.
