Today has been a public holiday in Auckland. It has rained almost all day, so we headed off to the Auckland War Memorial Museum - along with most of the rest of the city. Fortunately it's a big place and we got there early. Ethan has discovered that he can push his own pram if he holds onto the shopping basked underneath. He pushed it around alot of the museum. It was very comical watching people's reactions as an apparently self-propelled pram bounced off exhibits and walkways.
There's loads of great stuff in the museum. One of the best exhibits is the one on volcanoes. There will be another volcanic eruption in Auckland at some point in history but thankfully it is unlikely to be in our lifetime. They have created the front room of a house that you can sit in and watch a spoof news report showing what it might be like if the volcano in the harbour were to erupt. You can watch various news reports then view the eruptions through the house's "window" before the whole place shakes and blacks out. Quite scary!
We came home to relax with books and hot chocolate. I had another afternoon nap - my second since my massage!
Back to the grind tomorrow. Ian is now really busy at work again. All being well, his Dad and Liz will be with us this weekend and Ian will be around to enjoy their company rather than working.
