Ian and I have a night out together on Saturday night, thanks to Phil and Jo who offered to baby sit. We went to the cinema and saw The Lake House. It was pretty good - it's Sandra Bullock (who was fab) and Keanu Reeves (who was better than usual). It's one of these movies that plays with time so it doesn't bear much scrutiny. Afterwards we had a drink at Tobys which is the local Bar and Restaurant in Titirangi.
We had a good day all round on Saturday as we popped in on our neighbours in the morning. They have been in NZ for about 10 years but before that lived in Bristol for 8 years! They are from Monmouth originally. As a special treat for Ian in the afternoon we went to Mitre 10 (B&Q basically) and Ian was allowed to buy a couple of tools. He is itching for a project but at the moment we can't do better than hanging pictures.
After church on Sunday we drove out to Bethel's Beach which is just north of Piha. There are loads of dunes there. The black sand really does look stunning. The Bundys invited us round for roast chicken - the perfect end to a lovely weekend.
